Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads, who weave them by hand using plant-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, woven by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, created in a climate with large temperature differences between day and night, are also characterized by being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing heat.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Vacuum or sweep along the pile to remove dust and dirt.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Then carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape, pattern, weaving, and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinct odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping.
The pompoms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms does not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish for the pompoms to be removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
