Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool with long piles, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture containing a lot of fat to efficiently regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, so they don't feel hot.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also displayed as art on walls.
Why not find a special Gabbeh rug just for you, one that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the nap.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a wet cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
As these are hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used on the wool.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping
The pom-poms on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
