Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for surviving in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant feel due to its high oil content, which helps in temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh, born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated, not feeling hot, in summer.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind item.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but can also be displayed on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
