Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs made from plant-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling fibers.
Gabbeh rugs, made by dyeing this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven one by one by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feeling.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel thoroughly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the handmade nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
