Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of fat for effective body temperature regulation, making it soft and pleasant to the touch. Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who carefully hand-weave each strand of this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their soft and fluffy texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Created in a climate with large day-night temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feeling. And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be used not only on the floor but also displayed on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug, a piece you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
