Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs, dyed with natural plant dyes, and hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads living in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft, pleasant texture rich in oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by dyeing this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme daily temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs are also characterized by being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, original work.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping upon request.
The pompoms on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
