Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool with long pile. They are rooted in everyday life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil for good temperature regulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-the-touch wool.
Gabbehs are hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one thread at a time, using this naturally dyed wool, and are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And, above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbehs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with no two being alike; each is a unique, one-of-a-kind item.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
