Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as its soft and pleasant texture due to its high oil content, which helps regulate body temperature.
The Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads from this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme day-night temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool even in hot weather.
And above all, there's their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each piece a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be used not only on the floor but also hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape, pattern, weave, and dye. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request
The pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipping if you request it.
Removing the pom-poms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish for the pom-poms to be removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
