Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, nomadic people in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. They are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant-to-the-touch texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes and hand-woven meticulously, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads, resulting in a Gabbeh that is characteristically fluffy and feels pleasant to the touch.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, demonstrating its superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy, preventing heat in summer.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, dyeing inconsistencies, etc. Please be aware that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used for the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
