Features of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads, who hand-weave them from vegetable-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and each Gabbeh is carefully handwoven by Iranian nomads, resulting in a plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are known for their exceptional durability, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering comfort even in heat.
And above all, there's their artistic appeal. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be placed on the floor or even displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
If cleaning is needed: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being handwoven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a handwoven product.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dyes may be present.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
