Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with long piles. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, along with a soft, pleasant texture rich in natural oils, essential for effective body temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven one by one by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Firmly woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last up to 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing heat buildup.
And above all, there's their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, sweeping in the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used for the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping.
If requested, the pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh rug can be removed before delivery.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh rug.
If you would like the pompoms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
