Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads, who hand-weave them using plant-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains and has a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, thread by thread, is characterized by its plush and comfortable feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a sensation of coolness.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh created imaginatively by nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being an original, one-of-a-kind piece.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used on the wool.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
