Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product comes from sheep that live in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains. It possesses excellent durability to survive there and contains a high amount of natural oil, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, skillfully regulating body temperature.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, resulting in a plush and comfortable Gabbeh.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, indicating its exceptional durability.
Born from the drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering comfort even in hot weather.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They are so artistic that they can be displayed on walls as well as on floors.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Use a vacuum cleaner or broom to remove dirt and dust along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinct odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
