Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are handwoven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, made from such wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously handwoven one by one by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with large temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, giving a feeling of coolness.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They are not only suitable for laying on the floor but also as art to hang on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being handwoven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of handweaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used for the wool may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
