Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool to create long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, with this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool sensation.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can enjoy for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilventilated shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye variations. Please understand these as part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used to color the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
