Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, naturally dyed wool rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oils to effectively regulate body temperature.
This wool is dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, resulting in a plush and comfortable Gabbeh.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting outstanding durability.
Born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbehs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape, pattern, weaving, and dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pom-poms can be removed upon request

If requested, we can deliver your Gabbeh with the pom-poms on the corners and edges removed.
Removing the pom-poms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
