Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. These are long-pile rugs rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture rich in natural oils for effective body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads, meticulously hand-knotting each strand of this naturally dyed wool, is characterized by its plush and comfortable feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme daily temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Use a vacuum cleaner or broom to remove dirt and dust along the pile.
If cleaning is needed: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, dye variations, etc. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used on the wool.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
