Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads of Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oil content for efficient body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed for shipping
The pompoms located at the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like your order shipped without the pompoms, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
