Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomadic tribe, who hand-weave them using plant-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft texture with a high oil content effectively regulates body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven piece by piece by Iranian nomads using natural dyes, are characterized by their soft and fluffy feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, demonstrating its exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique original.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
As these are hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
