Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft and pleasant texture with a high fat content to regulate body temperature.
The Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using natural dyes on this wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable texture.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a wet cloth to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
The odor will gradually fade with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.

If requested, the pom-poms on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
