Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadically herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, helps with temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dye used to color the wool.
Please note that the odor will gradually dissipate with use.

Pompoms can be removed upon shipment

The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed and shipped as such upon request.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
