Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily life. The Persian Variat wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as its soft and pleasant texture with high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, made by carefully hand-weaving this wool, dyed with natural dyes, by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, indicating its exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there's its artistic quality. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
It's so artistic that it can be displayed on a wall as well as on the floor.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
Please note that the odor will gradually dissipate with use.
