Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are hand-woven using naturally dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product, developed to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, possesses excellent durability and a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads from this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feel.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be placed on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dust and dirt by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap of the rug.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
