Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are deeply rooted in daily life, made from plant-dyed sheep's wool with long piles. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture is due to its high oil content, which helps regulate body temperature effectively.
The Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, showcasing their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
