Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads, who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for living in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content to effectively regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imaginations, often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be used on the floor, of course, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. If it gets dirty: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, carefully wipe with water to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and color variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present. This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
