Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd their flocks in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is rich in oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven piece by piece by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If you notice stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dyes may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
