Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil for good temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, sweeping in the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and color variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive smell from the wool dye may be present.
This smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed upon request.
If you request, we can deliver the Gabbeh rug with the pompoms, located at the corners and in the middle, removed.
Removing the pompoms does not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
