Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, grass-dyed wool rugs handwoven by the Qashqai nomads who graze their herds in Iran's Zagros Mountains, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains and is soft to the touch with a high fat content to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously handwoven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from the drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And, above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to its handwoven nature, there may be irregularities in shape, pattern, weave, and dye. Please consider these as part of the charm of a handwoven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request.
The pom-poms on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
