Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are made from naturally dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The wool used in this product, known as Persian Variant, possesses excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft and pleasant texture is due to the high fat content that helps regulate body temperature. Gabbehs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, demonstrating its exceptional durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing heat buildup. And above all, there's its artistry. Gabbehs created from the nomads' imagination often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to its handmade nature, there may be variations in shape and pattern, and irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product. Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may occur. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.
The pom-poms on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment. Removing the pom-poms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
