Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The "Persian Valiant" wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and contains a lot of oil for effective body temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbehs, woven by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, carefully weaving each strand by hand, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and not feeling hot in summer.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbehs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on walls as art.
How about finding your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Then, carefully wipe with a wet cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, as well as weaving and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique scent from the wool dye.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping.
If requested, the pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
