Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and contains a high amount of oil for effective body temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture. Gabbeh rugs, with this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also characterized by being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be placed on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Use a vacuum cleaner or broom to remove dirt and dust along the nap. For noticeable stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, and unevenness in weaving and dyeing. Please note that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may occur. The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
