Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant feel with a high fat content to regulate body temperature effectively.
These Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads one strand at a time using natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable they are said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool.
And, above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created by the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also displayed on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, as well as irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used on the wool.
This scent will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
