Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool as part of their daily life. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture is due to the high oil content that helps with temperature regulation. Gabbeh rugs are made by Iranian nomads who meticulously hand-weave each strand of this wool, dyed with natural dyes, resulting in a plush and pleasant texture. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing overheating. And then there's its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Then, thoroughly wipe with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, and variations in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present. Please be aware that this scent will gradually dissipate with use.
Pompoms can also be removed before shipping.
If requested, the pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipping. Removing the pompoms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us by email or phone below.
