Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives and have a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbehs are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel, as they are hand-woven one by one by Iranian nomads after dyeing the wool with natural dyes.
Well-woven Gabbehs are said to last for 100 years, demonstrating their exceptional durability.
Gabbehs, born from a climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbehs created by the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, and variations in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
