Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai nomads who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is rich in oil content to regulate body temperature effectively, resulting in a soft and pleasant feel.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, one strand at a time, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also warm in winter and airy in summer, making them comfortable even in hot weather.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, and each one is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.

Daily Care

Vacuum or sweep along the pile to remove dust and dirt.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pompoms can be removed before shipping

The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
