Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai tribe, who herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are hand-woven using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a high amount of lanolin for effective body temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and Gabbeh rugs, meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads thread by thread, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can enjoy for many years to come?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If stains are a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, as well as inconsistencies in weaving and dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the unique charm of hand-woven items.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool, which may result in a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can be removed upon request

Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
