Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh is a long-pile rug deeply rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai nomads, who herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They hand-weave these rugs using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a lot of oil for effective temperature regulation. Gabbehs woven by Iranian nomads, with this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven strand by strand, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, indicating its superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a sensation of coolness. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbehs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique original. They can be used on the floor, of course, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a piece you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For気になる stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products. Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, a distinctive odor from the wool dyes may occur. The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
