Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool to create long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant feel containing a high amount of oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbehs, hand-woven one by one by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbehs are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are also known for being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there's their artistic quality. Gabbehs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original item, no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
As these are hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the wool dyes may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request

If you request, the pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like the pom-poms removed, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
