Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads, who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran using naturally dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant feel with a high fat content to regulate body temperature effectively.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, thread by thread, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs that are tightly woven are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also known for being warm in winter and breathable, not feeling hot, in summer.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, as well as weaving and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dye used on the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
