Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool with long piles, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture due to its high fat content, which helps with temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously one by one by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with large temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool sensation.
And above all, there is their artistry. The Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile direction.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, as well as weaving and dyeing irregularities. Please note that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used for the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
