Characteristics of Persian Hand-knotted Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its hair quality is soft and pleasant to the touch, containing a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively. Gabbeh rugs, made by Iranian nomads who meticulously hand-weave each strand of wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last 100 years, demonstrating their exceptional durability. Created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat. And above all, their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, original piece. They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be hung on walls as art. How about finding your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Important Notes
Due to its handmade nature, there may be irregularities in shape, pattern, weaving, and dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a handmade item. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used to color the wool may be present. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
