Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural dyes. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant-to-the-touch texture contains a high fat content to regulate body temperature effectively. Gabbeh rugs, made by Iranian nomads who carefully hand-weave each strand of this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant texture. A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with no two being alike; each is an original, one-of-a-kind piece. They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also hung on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can enjoy for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, as well as uneven weaving and dyeing. Please note that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used for the wool may occur. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
