Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbehs are made by these Iranian nomads who dye the wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, resulting in a fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbehs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbehs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique original.
They can be placed on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Gabbehs are designed to be used for a long time. Why not find your own special Gabbeh?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, and irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
