Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh is a long-pile rug deeply rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. It is hand-woven using naturally dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft and pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, helps in temperature regulation. Gabbehs, hand-woven meticulously one by one by Iranian nomads from this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. Strongly woven Gabbehs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Gabbehs, born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool. And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbehs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving. Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used on the wool. The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
