Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes, and deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its high oil content makes it soft and pleasant to the touch, allowing for effective temperature regulation.
Gabbehs are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture, made from this wool, dyed with natural dyes, and carefully hand-woven, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting outstanding durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbehs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can enjoy for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, and variations in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
