Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content to regulate body temperature effectively. Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who carefully hand-weave each strand of this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And then there's its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being an original, unique piece. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on walls. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, uneven weaving, and uneven dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool. The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
