Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as soft, pleasant-to-the-touch fibers rich in oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by dyeing this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weaving each thread by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Precautions

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pom-poms can be removed upon shipment

The pom-poms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
