Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs woven by hand by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a lot of fat to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh, made by meticulously hand-weaving this wool, dyed with natural dyes, by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from the drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are also known for being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original, one-of-a-kind item.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be hung on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterwards, thoroughly wipe with water to remove detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may occur.
Please be aware that the odor will gradually dissipate with use.
