Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing it to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and for its soft and pleasant texture, containing a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads with this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, showcasing its exceptional durability.
Born from the drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing you from feeling hot.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind piece with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Precautions
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please note that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
