Features of Persian hand-woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, hand-woven from naturally dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant feel is due to the high fat content that allows for good body temperature regulation. Each Gabbeh is meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, dyed with natural dyes, and features a fluffy, comfortable texture. Well-woven Gabbehs are said to last 100 years, making them extremely durable. Gabbehs, created from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, so they don't feel hot. And above all, there's the artistry. Gabbehs created by the nomads from imagination often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art. Daily care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. If it gets dirty: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry it in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Precautions

Due to the handmade nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dye used to color the wool. The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pompoms can be removed for shipping

The pompoms on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping. Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
